It's in the details that true art is created

The first few splashes of paint could have been done by anyone. The outline of the face, by any painter. The colors of the cheeks, by any artist. But the execution of the finer points, the conveyed emotion, could have been done only by very few people.

When we write software, when we design circuits, we should strive to pay the same sort of attention to the details. We should not just test the quality of the actual work, but how the users interact with the tools and how natural the tools feel.

A product should never be finished till the engineer looks at it with pride, and knows he has created the perfect tool. Such perfection can never be reached, but I think we should try as hard as we can to get as near as we can.
